It was way back in 1979 that John Galea was offered the musical directorship of Chorus Urbanus succeeding the late Joseph Bezzina, a co-founder of the choir in 1975. During these 40 years, the choir progressed in leaps and bounds both in quality, in the range of its repertoire and in its performances that extended beyond the local shores to major cities in Europe as well. John Galea’s professionalism and dynamism were behind this rise in the choir’s profile establishing the choir as one of the leading choral groups on the Island. It was all this that the choir members rightly celebrated.

Mro Galea was very thankful towards all the choristers and committee members for this totally unexpected surprise.

On behalf of Chorus Urbanus members and committee, we would like to congratulate Mro Galea for this personal milestone in his career and wish him many more years at the helm of our choir.

Ad multos annos!
