Chorus Urbanus has once again been invited to animate the liturgical functions related with the Titular Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that is commemorated each year at Fontana Parish in mid-June.

The choir, under the direction of Dr John Galea, animated the holy triduum in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus as well as the solemn vespers held on Saturday 15th June 2019, on the eve of the titular Feast.

The climax of the choir’s participation was reached on Sunday morning during the Pontifical Mass led by H.L. Bishop Mario Grech, Bishop of the Diocese of Gozo. During this high mass, Chorus Urbanus performed Missa Fons Vitae, a grand mass composed by Dr Galea for the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The choir was accompanied by a sizeable orchestra under the direction of the composer himself. The solo parts were sung by Noel Galea (bass) and Antonella Rapa (soprano).

The Minister for Gozo, Dr Justyne Caruana, led a host of distinguished guests that attended the mass. Also in attendance were members of the Fontana Local Council led by the Mayor Saviour Borg and by members of the Holy Order of The Blessed Sepulchre.
