Chorus Urbanus members who took part in “Il Trovatore” with Dr Galea after Saturday’s performance.

The highlight of the Mediterranea Festival presented at the Astra Theatre during October 2019 was the presentation of Giuseppe Verdi’s famous and popular opera “Il Trovatore”. Altrhough Dr John Galea is no newcomer to opera, this opera happened to be his debut opera as musical director of Astra Theatre following his appointment earlier in December 2018.

“Il Trovatore” has been dubbed ‘a huge success’ and this is mainly due to Dr Galea’s wholesome contribution together with the whole team that  worked together throughout different aspects of the production. Once again, the artistic direction of the opera was entrusted to Mro Enrico Stinchelli who conjured a jaw-dropping production aided by the artistic scenery created by the Astra Stage Crew headed by Joseph Cauchi.

As one would have expected a number of Chorus Urbanus choristers took part in this opera as part of the Astra Opera Chorus.tutored by Ms Mariella Spiteri Cefai who worked assiduously with Dr Galea throughout the preparations and performances of this opera.

The management of Chorus Urbanus and all the choristers congratulate our musical director for the huge success achieved and bid him further successes in years to come as musical director of Teatru Astra.
