One of the events in Gozo commemorating the ordination of Archbishop Alfred Xuereb by Pope Francis, was a Solemn Mass celebrated in Fontana Parish by Mgr Xuereb to commemorate the official opening of the festivities culminating in the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Christ in mid-June. This mass was held on Friday 6th April 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The mass was animated by Chorus Urbanus who were under the baton of Mro Mark Gauci, deputising for Mro John Galea who had a conducting engagement with the King’s Own Philharmonic Society as part of\u00a0Il-Festa il-Kbira<\/em>\u00a0organised by Valetta 2018. The choir performed John Galea’s “Missa in Fractione Panis” a cappella with Gregorian chant interjections accompanied by Ms. Jennifer Grech on the organ. During the celebration speeches were delivered by Mgr Xuereb and by\u00a0Can John Muscat, who is an ex-classmate of Mgr Xuereb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
