Chorus Urbanus Productions managed to secure the services of the ‘maestro collaboratore’ of the Coro del Teatro alla Scala, Milano to conduct a ‘Choral Workshop and Vocal Master classes’ project.
“This project was submitted to the Malta Arts Council and partial funding was granted from the Malta Arts Fund, who saw the professional educational value of such a worthy initiative,” Chorus Urbanus Productions said.
The projectwas conducted by Mro. Marco de Gaspari and took from Monday 16th to Thursday 26th July 2012 in Gozo. Some of the sessions were also be open to the general public.
Different genres were dealt with, and these included vocal works written by the choir’s musical director, John Galea exclusively for Chorus Urbanus.
After completion of his studies at Milano Conservatory, Marco de Gaspari founded the Italian Contemporary Ensemble, a chamber ensemble directed specifically to the music of the 20th-century with whom he won various international competitions and gave performances in several European countries.
In 1998, Marco de Gaspari was enrolled as collaborator to the chorus Master of the Coro del Teatro alla Scala and ripetiteur to the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala. Here he collaborated with various conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Valery Gergiev, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta and many others.
