This Christmas season, Chorus Urbanus will be presenting the special edition of “Il-Kunċert tal-Milied 2022” as part of “Feel the Magic of 2022-24”.
The artistic director of Chorus Urbanus Productions, Dr John Galea, who has been at the
helm of Chorus Urbanus for these last 44 years has expressed his assurance that “our
esteemed patrons who have been invariably supporting our Christmas concerts will be
enjoying this year’s special concert themed as Hope Amid Darkness. During every
Christmas season, we at Chorus Urbanus reflect on the good things we are surrounded with
and we think of our patrons and how we can foster the wellbeing of society through Music.
We appreciate the pleasure that our patrons get when we perform for our audiences and
hope that the Yuletide season, a prime time for giving, will bring further happiness and
inspire us towards success in our artistic ventures that are also aimed at helping worthy
causes.”
This year’s special edition (25th consecutive year running) will feature Chorus Urbanus,
Chorus Urbanus Juniors, the Urbanus Festive Orchestra, conducted by Dr John Galea, the
Centre Stage Dance Academy, and Beta Entertainment Theatre Academy. This year’s
production “Hope amid darkness” will be under the artistic direction of producer Jamie
Camilleri. Patrons attending this year’s special performance will be able to offer donations
to The Malta Trust Foundation, thus contributing towards the realisation of the
Foundation’s projects in Gozo, namely Dar il-Kantuniera and the Sunrise Project.
The concert will be held at Teatru Astra on Sunday 18 December, 2022 at 8.00pm, under the
distinguished patronage of H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President Emeritus. H.E. Marie-
Louise Coleiro Preca has endorsed this event and stated that “she welcomes and thanks
Chorus Urbanus, which not only well know for the great talent within, but also for its social
initiatives that it organises. This time this great event will be held in aid of mental health
services being offered by The Malta Trust Foundation within the Gozitan Community.
