Chorus Urbanus recently held its Annual General Meeting on Sunday, January 19, 2024, at Teatru Astra. The meeting was well-attended by members and supporters of the choir.

The AGM opened with an introductory address by the President, Mr Karl J. Buhagiar who thanked all members for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing that their efforts were key to the choir’s successes. He encouraged members to continue showing enthusiasm to maintain and improve the choir’s quality and reputation.

This was followed by the secretary Mr George Sacco Xerri, outlining all the 2024 events including the successful implementation of the Feel the Magic project, especially Feel the Magic of Progressive Rock and Feel the Magic of Aladdin Jr and participation in the operatic production of Teatru Astra’s Giovanna D’Arco by Verdi . This was followed by Treasurer Noel Galea who read the financial report.

After these two reports, the President asked if there were any amendments to be carried out to the Statute and the Secretary announced that nine nominations, as stipulated in the Statute had been received.  The set-up of the 2025 committee is thus : Karl J. Buhagiar, George Borg, Noel Galea, George Sacco Xerri, Roxanne Galea, Matthias Mercieca, Hilda Grima, Yvonne Galea,  and Mro John Galea.

 

In his speech, Dr John Galea highlighted the choir’s strengths and focussed on areas for improvement, stressing the importance of aiming high to ensure continued success.He thanked all the members for their perseverance throughout 2024.  Updates on the 2025-27 Feel the Magic project, that recently got awarded funds by Arts Council Malta, were alsoshared with the members.

 

 

 

 

 

The meeting concluded with a reception for all members and spouses, together with members of Chorus Urbanus Junior Choir, providing an opportunity for everyone to socialize and celebrate the choir’s achievements.
