(more…)The opening event of Gozo Alive – Feel the Magic – organized by Chorus Urbanus Productions at the Villa Rundle, kicked off a special weekend of celebration in Gozo. The event featured Chorus Urbanus soloists, Chorus Urbanus, Urbanus Juniors and the University Vocal Ensemble under the direction of Dr John Galea, in an evening of magical reminiscences from famous animation classics. One of the events in Gozo commemorating the ordination of Archbishop Alfred Xuereb by Pope Francis, was a Solemn Mass celebrated in Fontana Parish by Mgr Xuereb to commemorate the official opening of the festivities culminating in the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Christ in mid-June. This mass was held on Friday 6th April 2018.
(more…)Chorus Urbanus will be presenting a multimedia concert at the Don Bosco Oratory Chapel on 27 March 2018 at 7.30pm during Holy Week. This is a multimedia production that incorporates narration, poetry recitals, music and a series of tableaux on a text by the late Joseph Bezzina, one of the Choir’s founders.

(more…)After its participation in the highly successful musical “Fiddler on the Roof”, Chorus Urbanus presented its 20th edition of its Christmas Concert, “Il-Kuncert tal-Milied”. This year’s edition was unarguably one of the most successful editions ever held by the Choir in terms of repertoire, attendance and collection for philanthropic needs. This year’s concert was held at St. George’s Basilica in Victoria on Sunday 17th December 2017 at 8.00pm.
(more…)Chorus Urbanus members have returned back from the choir’s highly successful 12th Choral Tour to Torino with singing engagements at St John Bosco’s Church of Maria Ausiliatrice in Valdocco, the Chapel of the Holy Shroud at the Duomo di Torino and the SS. Trinità Church in Nichelino.
Lux is a new, major collection of sacred choral compositions by John Galea, featuring a host of previously unrecorded works in glittering performance by the Chorus Urbanus and the Sofia Collegium String Ensemble. Conducted by the composer himself, this beautifully-packaged release, exploring a wide gamut of emotions – exalted, devotional, jubilant, mystical – represents a cross-section of choral sacred music composed over a period of twenty-five years, that promises to delight all audiences.

The Choir had been invited to give a concert on the occasion of the official closure of the festivities in honour of La Madonna del Cuore that is venerated in Gerano. (more…)
